THE GLORY

Moses was commanded by God to build the tabernacle in the wilderness. He was to be very careful to make it just as God had told him. See especially Hebrews 8:5. We read in Exodus 40:34 that Moses had done everything as God told him to. When the tabernacle was completed, immediately “the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle”.
We read that the same thing happened when Solomon’s temple was finished.
II Chronicles 7:1: “the glory of the LORD had filled the houses”
A third time this will happen will be at the completion of the future temple
foretold in Ezekiel 43:4 “And the glory of the LORD came into the house”.
There is one exception. We do not read of this as regards the temple built upon the return from the Babylonian captivity. This is not an unimportant omission. We find the reason in Haggai 2:7 “the Desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts” and in verse9: “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts”. How was this possible? In beauty it did not compare with the temple Solomon had built. Then how would it be greater? The Desire of all nations in verse seven is the coming Messiah. There is no need for the symbol when one has the real. God Himself was going to walk in this temple.
Why no visible glory today in church or temple? The answer is in Hebrews 10:!9 and 20. “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh”
There is no need for the symbol when one has the real.
